Creating Relevance

As we approach the first anniversary of Bertha Lee Strickland Cultural Museum, I reflect back to our Grand Opening on February 12, 2016. We began our journey with THE WAYMAKERS exhibit that honored local African Americans from Oconee County who made significant contributions locally, statewide, regionally, and nationally.

Our museum exhibits are curated and designed to increase awareness, educate, and stimulate an open dialogue in a safe environment about complex topics. My colleague, Nick McKinney and I work together to incorporate museum tradition with modern technology to create an aggregate visitor experience that has multi-generational appeal. We encourage you to become a part of our journey.
